EASTER IN AMSTERDAM

PÄÄSIÄINEN AMSTERDAMISSA

GREETINGS FROM AMSTERDAM!

We decided to change the scenery for Easter. First plan was to go to Spain but since almost all flights were sold out or just cost too much we thought Amsterdam is always a good idea. We also have family there so why not go to holiday and see relatives. Turned out that most of the hotels were already fully booked when we had a chance to sit down and make plans. Last minute of course. Well we ended up waking up in the most loveliest B&B’s called Bed en Buffet. I got familiar with the place a few years ago and after that a thought of having my morning coffee there kept popping in to mind time to time. Since the whole city felt to be booked out I never believed we could manage to get a room with such short notice. But hey, turns out that the Lady Luck was on our side and we managed to get a room after all. This two room condo is located in the heart of Amsterdam and is hosted by the lovely couple who live just up stairs. We got even more lucky as we’ve booked the smaller room (wich is also super nice) but ended up having the whole apartment just for us as there was a last minute cancellation. If location and design is the thing for you and you are planning to visit the city of Amsterdam this place is definitely worth checking out.

TERVEISIÄ AMSTERDAMISTA!

Pääsiäisen korville osui mukavasti lomapäiviä, mitkä päätimme hyödyntää kaupunkiloman merkeissä. Alunperin ajatuksena oli lähteä Espanjaan, missä olisi ollut asunto vailla lomailijoita. Lennot puolestaan olivat jo lähes loppuunmyyty, ja nekin mitä vielä jäljellä oli, hipoi pilviä hinnoillaan. Näin saattaa käydä, kun on myöhään liikkeellä. Ja, minähän tunnetusti olen myöhässä kaikessa ja aina (paitsi työjutuissa). Onneksi kuitenkin kiinnostavia kohteita riittää, ja päädyimmekin tällä kertaa Amsterdamiin. Täällä ei ollut tyhjillään ammottavaa asuntoa, mutta perhettä kylläkin. Tuntui mukavalta ajatukselta viettää pääsiäistä reissussa ja samalla nähdä sukulaisia, keitä muutoin niin kovin harvoin tapaa. Lennot saatiin sopuhintaan, mutta myös Amsterdamissa hotellit olivat jo hyvinkin täyteen varattuja. Onni onnittemuudessa, voisi sanoa. Päädyimme asustamaan Bed en Buffet nimiseen huoneistohotelliin aivan Amsterdamin sydämeen. Olin törmännyt kyseiseen hotelliin jokunen vuosi takaperin ja siitä asti haaveillut aika ajoin juovani aamukahvia katsellen kanaalia aamuauringon sarastaessa puisten ikkunaluukkujen välistä. Olinkin aivan varma, että tänne ei olisi ollut mitään mahdollisuutta päästä yöpymään lyhyellä varoitusajalla, etenkään pääsiäisloman aikaan. Kävi kuitenkin niin onnekkaasti, että saimme niin huoneen, kuin koko huoneiston käyttöömme. Näin ollen viime tingassa varattu kaupunkiloma ei olisi voinut paremmin alkaa.

Found this amazing store and perhaps could say gallery while strolling around the streets of Amsterdam. Okay to be totally honest I consciously went to the 9th street fully aware that it’s a hip area. First thing that captured my eye was that beautIful thing hanging from the ceiling (see the bottom picture). Also loved the art work on the walls. Ysikadulta löytyi kuin löytyikin minulle uusi, paikallinen tuttavuus, Rika Studios. Mobilet, noin yleisestikin saavat minut heikoiksi, eikä paikallinen taide muutoinkaan voisi olla lähempänä sydäntä, joten kai sanomattakin selvää että olin ihan myyty.
